About Us - Mission and Goals

Our Mission: To break the cycle of violence by teaching youth and adults how to resolve conflicts peacefully and grow into healthy, socially and responsibly caring individuals.

What we do for our youth is more important than what we do to them. paxUnited's programs provide youth and the adults in their environment the life skills to manage conflict in such a way that no one is hurt, everyone's needs are met, and relationships are improved. Nearly one-third of Texas school districts have a campus with some form of mediation program. The staff at paxUnited is directly responsible for a significant number of those programs.

paxUnited makes innovations in the peer mediation paradigm based on leading–edge information on education research and resiliency building, statewide reports of trends in youth violence, and in–the–field feedback from school administrators, law enforcement officers, students, and teachers. Using this information to determine areas of need, paxUnited provides inventive, thoughtful approaches to deter and prevent negative behavior.

paxUnited's programs are malleable to any youth setting, culturally sensitive, extremely successful, and inexpensively replicable. The programs are highly successful in all settings because they are carefully designed to complement and enrich the best of current educational philosophy.
